Sony a7 V Underwater in Dominican Republic 4K [VIDEO]

For full frame shooters, the Sony Alpha 7 V is one of the best hybrid cameras underwater right now. Ikelite Video Producer Logan Wood recently took the camera to the Dominican Republic to document the work of archaeologists from the Indiana University (IU) Center for Underwater Science. Scroll down to learn more.

IU Center for Underwater Science

Indiana University (IU) archaeologists have made significant discoveries of faunal remains in the Dominican Republic, primarily in submerged limestone caverns like the Cueva Padre Nuestro and Manantial de la Aleta. Excavated fossils—ranging from extinct Caribbean sloths to rare primate skulls—have been brought to IU laboratories for preservation and evolutionary study.

Sony a7 V Underwater Handling

The Sony a7 V excelled in less-than-ideal water conditions, with the resulting footage looking crisp even in low light conditions in the underwater caverns. Sony’s autofocus tracking systems are highly reliable as evidenced by the opening footage of small reef squid.

Stay tuned for more footage from the D.R. If you want help putting together an underwater system for your Sony a7 V camera, reach out for help.
