The toggle lock mechanism on our professional grade DS strobes is beloved for enabling the fastest battery changes underwater. But every once in a while someone manages to accidentally rotate the toggle the wrong direction and get it stuck.

Have no fear! There's an easy fix and Ikelite Service Technician Steve Johnson is here to show you how it's done.

The first thing I want to do is show you where the stops are on the battery. You have a round stop and a flat stop. Then there's a half moon piece that fits around this toggle that controls the stops.

Round stop (left) and flat stop (right).

All you need is a flat edge screwdriver. You want to be really careful to try to pull the toggle up, slide the flat end of the screw driver underneath, and turn counterclockwise while you're grasping the strobe. Once you get it back to the 90º from where it's open, you can now remove the battery pack.

Use the flat end of your screwdriver to carefully lift the toggle up so that you can turn it counterclockwise and return it back into the proper position.
