Featuring Jean Rydberg
OM Systems' waterproof cameras like the TG-7, Olympus TG-6 and TG-5 are great choices for taking pictures underwater while scuba diving or snorkeling.
If you want your photos to have color and sharp details, you'll want to add a flash to your system. And the Ecko Fiber is the perfect strobe for OM Tough camera systems.
See how easy it is to attach an Ecko Fiber strobe to an OM PT-059 underwater housing. Follow along on the video below or scroll down to view the article version of this video.
Get Perfect Exposure With Ecko Fiber TTL
The Ecko Fiber provides automatic TTL exposure using the camera's RC flash mode. The camera will tell the strobe when and how much to fire for perfect exposure in your photos. The Ecko Fiber has a powerful wide beam to perfectly light your photos whether you're shooting macro or wide angle.
Ecko Fiber Strobe Bundles
To make the most out of your strobe, you'll want to add a tray and handle and an extension arm. This moves the strobe out a little farther to the side away from the lens. This is better than a top down lighting position because it will give extra depth to your photo. It also reduces the backscatter which is when your strobe is illuminating the particles in between your camera's lens and the subject.

Get started with one of our Ecko bundles which include the tray and handle, the adapter, the strobe arm, the strobe and the fiber optic cord:
- Ecko Fiber Single Strobe Bundle for OM System TG-7, TG-6, TG-5 Cameras in Ikelite or PT-059 Underwater Housings # 40101-TG1
- Ecko Fiber Dual Strobe Bundle for OM System TG-7, TG-6, TG-5 Cameras in Ikelite or PT-059 Underwater Housings # 40101-TG2
Installing Ecko Strobes on the PT-059 Underwater Housing

First, attach the adapter to the bottom of the housing using the two 1/4-20 screws.

Then, the action tray attaches to the adapter with two more 1/4-20 screws.

Push the button and slide the Ikelite strobe arm into the top of the quick release handle.

Set your camera to RC flash mode.

Set your Ecko strobe to RC and start shooting with automatic TTL exposure.

Jean Rydberg, daughter of Ike Brigham, became President & CEO of Ikelite in 2006. Prior to that, she wisely pursued a degree in Astronomy & Astrophysics to prepare herself for the challenges of running a technology-driven manufacturing business with global distribution. Jean fully embraces the need to travel outside of her hometown of Indianapolis to experience good diving. She believes that any camera is capable of amazing results in the right hands, and anyone can become a great photographer given the right advice. When she's not working she's spending time with her husband, cats, and two daughters (though not necessarily in that order).
