Bulkhead + Sync Cord Plug Material Change

Bulkhead + Sync Cord Plug Material Change

Starting September 2018 we will be transitioning all Ikelite ICS bulkheads and sync cord plugs from nickel plated brass to hard anodized aluminum.

This material change represents a significant reduction in weight combined with non-conductivity and equivalent corrosion resistance.

Combining old and new

It is simple to tell old fittings from new: Hard anodized aluminum fittings are black; Nickel plated brass fittings are silver.

Additional maintenance is required when using older nickel plated plugs and bulkheads in combination with the newer aluminum style. It is important to disconnect the components to clean and lightly lubricate the threads after each day of diving. Failure to maintain the connections will result in the seizing up the dissimilar metals. If the components become fused together, they cannot be separated - it is necessary to replace both components.

Upgrade Available

For a limited time we are offering complimentary bulkhead upgrades with a paid service of eligible Ikelite housings and DS strobes. Contact us for more information.
