After almost eight years of diving both professionally and recreationally Dave Stone borrowed a friend's Olympus TG-6 assuming it probably wasn't a hobby for him as previous attempts at topside photography peaked limited interest. However, underwater videography quickly became an obsession and he decided to buy his first camera, also an Olympus TG-6 and shortly thereafter a TG-7.

Of the Tough TG series cameras Dave says, "It's a simple rig without breaking the bank and it gets great results for a beginner, which I find keeps one interested enough to progress through the different aspects of the field: framing, editing, lighting, subject behavior, etc."

Eveline’s Learchis, all the 'moustached nudi' have a place in my heart
because of their 'moustache,' which I of-course also don. Turtle Reef, Grand Cayman. © 2024 Dave Stone

Longsnout Seahorse, black coloring being the most common in Cayman Islands, however this very young one sizing in at maybe 15mm was a surprise find! Turtle Reef, Grand Cayman. © 2024 Dave Stone

Lettuce Leaf slug was reaching for the video light, just in-front of a
ledge of sand which happened to make the critter stand out. Turtle

Lined Elysia slug, one of the more uncommon of the family. The lines however I found quite stunning. Turtle Reef, Grand Cayman. © 2024 Dave Stone

Dwarf Frogfish, while the most common of Cayman's frogfish, they are extremely hard to find due to their (lack of) size. White ones, even more uncommon. This fella's propping up a coconut half-shell for great contrast. Turtle Reef, Grand Cayman. © 2024 Dave Stone

Christmas Tree nudibranch, another of the 'moustached nudi' stayed around the same hydroids for almost a month, ≈25ft depth. Turtle Reef, Grand Cayman. © 2024 Dave Stone

Antilles Oxynoe stretching between algae, there's something quite miniature dinosaur-like about them. Don Fosters, Grand Cayman. © 2024 Dave Stone

Striated Sea Hare was the first one I'd seen for the season, and it was quite large (as they go) which turns out quite pronounced. Eden Rock, Grand Cayman. © 2024 Dave Stone

White-Spotted Seahare, somewhat uncommon species but there must have been a hatching event as there was a good week(ish) with loads of them about. Cobalt Coast, Grand Cayman. © 2024 Dave Stone

Did you know the commonly seen Flamingo Tongue cyphoma has blue eyes? Cobalt Coast, Grand Cayman. © 2024 Dave Stone
