The Canon PowerShot G7 X series has been right up there with the Sony Cyber-shot RX100 line as some of the most powerful pocket-sized cameras underwater. The 2019 model is the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III, featuring a new 1"-type 20MP Stacked CMOS sensor.
As you would expect on any camera released this year, the G7 X III is capable of RAW image capture and 4K UHD video. The camera's shorter zoom range of 24-100mm isn't ideal above water, but underwater it lends itself perfectly to the use of external wide angle and macro lens accessories.
"The G7X Mark III’s burst shooting capability has been improved from 8 fps to a whopping 20 fps - that's better than many full-frame systems! The RAW buffer has also been improved to 70 shots from 21. This is very exciting for underwater photographers who want something small that can capture fast animals underwater." - Nirupam Nigam, Bluewater Photo Store
