Florida-based conservationist and underwater photographer Josh Frasca returns with a deep dive on the importance of sharks. Josh captured all of the following images with a Canon R6 II and Canon RF 14-35mm F4 lens inside an Ikelite Underwater Housing with dual Ikelite DS232 Strobes.

I just find it so crazy how many people live in Florida—especially near the coast—and still fear sharks. I understand that not everyone wants to go scuba diving or intentionally swim with sharks. However, I believe it’s important for people to understand how vital sharks are to our environment. If we choose to play or work in the ocean, we must accept that we’re sharing it with sharks. By understanding them instead of fearing them, we can not only enjoy the ocean more but also learn how to safely coexist with our sea-dwelling neighbors. © Josh Frasca

There’s so much grace that can be seen in sharks. There's just so much more to them than the giant powerful predator side of them that media like to portray them as. © Josh Frasca

Close up to a Florida native. Contrary to the belief of many Floridians, this beautiful lemon shark, as well as the many other sharks I’ve encountered in the ocean, were not out to get me. These beautiful creatures just seem so curious about us and as I glided, inches away from this animal, I see that we all could gain so much from understanding, not fearing sharks. © Josh Frasca
