My name is Pete Kearney. I have been diving since 1999 where I was certified in Hawaii. I was 45 years old and loved the sea, so diving was almost home to me. I dove with Jacks Diving Locker in Hawaii most of the time when they offered Dive trips to Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and other countries in this part of the world.
I was a beginner diver on my first trip and made 40-50 dives. I was the only one without a camera underwater. I could see I needed a new challenge. I am now on my 4th camera - a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR - and of course my 4th Ikelite housing. I’ve had some great photo teachers, and am still learning.

Pete Kearney of California is now "retired" after 45 years in the restaurant business, though he and his wife still own 5 restaurants in the East Bay Area of San Francisco: Clementines and four Country Waffles. Pete decided to get certified while on a trip to Hawaii. Since then he's traveled the world and developed his love for underwater photography. Now on his 4th Ikelite housing, Pete currently shoots a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR with a GoPro camera mounted to the top of it. He's excited to get back into the water with his new 45º magnifying viewfinder and Compact 8" Dome.
