Bob Nguyen

US Navy Submariner, scuba enthusiast and freediver, Bob Nguyen is stationed in Oahu and spends most of his free time in the ocean.  He loves to share his photography to inspire others to take better care of the ocean for future generations and encourage others to spend more time outdoors.

Scuba diving is preferred by Bob to get the best wildlife shots because when you are able to stay in position or move slowly underwater the animals are more calm and curious.  Most recently Bob has been honing in on his freediving photography.  He prefers freediving when he is shooting other freedivers because of the ability to communicate with the model and to be able to stay in the water for longer periods of time.

Bob’s passion for underwater photography has motivated him to develop his freediving skills in order to get the best shots possible on a single breath of air.  Bob says “there is a lot going on to get a single picture from breathing up to equalizing all while diving as deep as possible with my camera in hand” and he loves the challenge.

“I love underwater photography because no two photographs are the same and every day in the ocean is different. You never know what will be your best shot of the day.” – Bob Nguyen
