SubStrobe 50, M, MS, MV Comments

This underwater strobe series has been one of the most dependable and capable ever produced. State-of-the-art electronics give the new models 50% more power in the same basic strobe body that started life years ago as a Substrobe M, S, and MV. We are justifiably proud of these strobes.

These strobes were originally designed for alkaline batteries. The outside case of an alkaline cell has no polarity. Installation of ni-cad batteries caused an electrolysis problem in early models because the outside case of these batteries is negative polarity. This caused corrosion in the battery door and to the camera connector.

The center mounting post is now insulated, and the battery door has been redesigned to allow the use of ni-cad batteries in these strobes.

We respectfully mention that the nearest comparable competition is almost twice as big, is considerably more expensive, takes twice as long to recycle, and gives about half as many flashes per set of batteries. Any intensity difference is less than 1/2 f-stop, and only our Substrobe can utilize a wireless TTL slave sensor.
