The housing includes a flash diffuser that allows underwater photos to be taken with the built-in strobe of the camera. An optional DS series Ikelite SubStrobe placed farther from the lens improves the photographs by reducing the illumination of particles suspended in the water.

Single Release Handle and tray system included allows easy attachment and removal of SubStrobe mounting arms at the touch of a button.

DS model digital SubStrobes can also provide ten manual power settings if connected to an EV Controller, utilizing its wireless slave sensor or connected to the housing by a sync cord.
