The built-in flash of the camera is used to trigger either a
DS Sensor or EV Manual Controller connected to a DS SubStrobe

  • White Balance set to Auto.
  • Set ISO to lowest setting, Auto ISO is not recommended.
With wireless TTL Slave Sensor:

  • Set Exposure Mode to Shuter Priority
  • Set Shutter Speed to 1/100 of a second
  • Set Slave Sensor to Pre-Flash
  • Set DS SubStrobe to TTL
With EV Manual Controller:

  • Set camera Exposure Mode to Manual
  • Set Shutter Speed to 1/100 of a second
  • Set Aperture to f/5.6
  • Set Slave Sensor to NO Pre-Flash
  • Set DS SubStrobe to TTL

When camera is set to Macro Mode and you are shooting subjects close-up, set the camera's Aperture to its smallest opening (largest number). Do not use Macro Mode for photos more than two feet away from the camera.

When using zoom lens at focal lengths greater than 100mm, the Shutter Speed should be increased to 1/200th of a second.

Set Image Resolution to the Highest JPG format available. Higher resolution settings are required for printing. High resolution images can easily be reduced in size with software and retain their original quality. A low resolution image can be enlarged with software, but much of the quality will be lost.
