  • Set ISO to lowest setting, Auto ISO is not recommended.

  • White Balance set to Auto.

  • Camera will "Reset to Default" settings when turned off unless this choice is turned "off" in the menu.

  • Depress Function Button, set Flash Output to Minimum.

  • Depress Flash Button until Lightning Bolt shows in monitor.

  • Set camera to Manual Exposure Mode, Shutter Speed to 1/100 of a second; and Aperture to f/5.6

  • Set EV Manual Controller to NO pre-flash and to correct SubStrobe model

  • Set DS SubStrobe to TTL

When camera is set to Macro Mode and you are shooting subjects close-up, set the camera's Aperture to its smallest opening (largest number). Do not use Macro Mode for photos more than two feet away from the camera.

When using zoom lens at focal lengths greater than 100mm, the Shutter Speed should be increased to 1/200th of a second.

Set Image Resolution to the Highest JPG format available. Higher resolution settings are required for printing. High resolution images can easily be reduced in size with software and retain their original quality. A low resolution image can be enlarged with software, but much of the quality will be lost.
