10/03/00: Our offices were destroyed by fire today. Melted telephones are difficult to answer, the fax machine is a pile of rubble, computers trashed, and everything is a smelly mess.
The office types will infiltrate assembly areas and we should be back in business next week after replacing phones and computers.
The rest of the operation is fine. Complete off-site backup will eliminate any loss of computer data, but installation of the new systems will take a few days.
10/06/00: All of our people worked to install fax, phones and desks in a storage area next to assembly. We still need computers to enter, ship and invoice orders, process repairs, pay bills, and do payroll.
10/20/00: We are now operating in a storage area next to assembly. All systems including new computers are finally operational. It may take most of the winter to rebuild the burned out office facilities.
3/31/01: We moved back into the rebuilt offices this week, almost six months after the disasterous fire. Final analysis of our insurance coverage indicates Monroe Guaranty Insurance Company made a conscientious effort to be reasonable and accommodating in all aspects of this mess.
