Housing for Nikon Coolpix 5000 Digital Camera

The Coolpix 5000 is an impressive choice with its ease of use and 5 megapixel picture quality.

The 28-85mm zoom lens is wider angle than most similar cameras making it an excellent choice for underwater photography, and the lens provides macro capability to one inch.

The AE/AF control for exposure / focus lock is conveniently placed at your left thumb. All of the contols are convenient and easy to use. The housing is tiny with no wasted space.

Dual handle assembly is included for shooting stability and addition of optional strobes. Our new digital SubStrobes can be utilized with a sync cord or the wireless TTL sensor. Any SubStrobe can utilize the Nikon TTL system when attached by sync cord to the bulkhead.

Addition of an optional wide angle lens like the Inon UWL-100 provides even wider angle capabilities and is easy to remove underwater. The aluminum housings may not be able to utilize these special lenses.

Ikelite housing for the Coolpix 5000 camera is very well thought out and leaves little or nothing to be desired. Following observations compare it to other housings:

Some housings for this camera are not able to accommodate the optional WC-E68 Nikon 19mm lens, or allow installation of the camera with this lens attached. Some housings will accept only their own proprietary lens systems.

The Ikelite housing may appear larger only because it is shown with two comfortable quick release handles onto which strobes attach.

The push button shutter release of some housings can not provide the smooth and sensitive operation of the Ikelite lever system. Power on/off, camera/review, and exposure / focus lock controls are not always provided.
