Nikon Coolpix Compatibility

All current DS model digital SubStrobes are designed for use with the newest Nikon digital cameras, Nikon F-5 Action Finder cameras, and the Nikonos.

Older Ikelite SubStrobes, famous for their compatibility with all Nikon camera systems, require modification when two are used with a dual sync cord on the Nikon Coolpix digital cameras. A single Ikelite SubStrobe usually requires no modification, but we have found a few cameras that lock up after taking one picture, requiring the same modification that is always needed for dual strobes.

All SubStrobe models produced after June 1, 2001 include this modification.

A second strobe without modification can be added to a Coolpix digital camera if the second strobe is triggered with our #4100 or #4100.5 Remote TTL Sensor.

The modified strobe sync circuit allows the strobes to operate with any Nikon system, but will prevent their use with some older Minolta and Pentax cameras.
