1927 Packard 343 Dietrich convertible. The aluminum body makes this a very lively car to drive. This was the year Packard introduced the first hypoid differential to the automotive world. The 385 cubic inch engine starts instantly and is fun to drive. Packard didn't have a syncromesh transmission until 1932, but the car shifts with surprising ease. The transmission mounted air compressor still works fine to inflate a flat tire.
I bought this car out of a barn for $175 in 1953 when I was 16 years old. I sold it two years later when I needed more modern wheels to date girls, but kept track of the car and bought it back again in 1989.
