Being over 50 I am one of the "Mike Nelson" generation, but I only started diving in the past year. I completed SSI certification, along with my son, last November.
The enclosed picture was taken while diving with Kona Coast Divers. I was taking pictures with my Aquashot II, using the water correcting lens and external flash, and loaded with a Fuji Quicksnap. The dive master saw this octopus slinking along the bottom. He scooped it up to show me, it darted away, but then it stopped and flared its tentacles just as I snapped another picture. When I had the film developed I couldn't believe my luck at getting it at just the right instant. I was extremely pleased at the stunning detail and true to life colors of the photo. I have many beautiful shots recording my diving experiences, but this one is my favorite.
