This picture of a large Urticina anemone was taken in late April within Carmel Bay, California. The dive site was either the famed Outer Pinnacles or Mono Lobo Wall. The diving had been very poor this spring, but this week had cleared up nicely. It was very dark, but very clear. It was also very cold, with my two computers reading 44 and 48F! I had just switched over to a drysuit; this was probably my 3rd ocean dive with it.
Also seen in this picture are numerous dime-sized orange cup corals, as well as some encrusting sponge and corraline algae.
This photo was taken with an Aquashot 3e, the water correcting lens, the strobe, and using Kodak Gold 200 APS film.
